I then noted in a shoutout that when a reply is made on a thread to a previous post, the quoted text from the previous post has a VERY dark gray background that's almost indistinguishable from the black background of the primary message field. This makes it very hard....again, effectively impossible.....to read the new message and distinguish it from the previous text which is quoted. It tends to all look like one message.

The obvious solution to both problems is to make choices from the available colors, which would increase the contrast between text and background. But I understand that the choices are limited.

I believe this question came up once before in the case of the notification banners. And Beth pointed out that the website software did not offer any really good choices for the notification banners. An obvious choice like black text on the light colored background was simply not an option offered. So maybe there's no real solution to this for the banners. (When we see the yellow banner, we'll just know what it is for.)

But there WAS a previous color choice which was formerly used as background for quoted messages being replied to, and which allowed you to easily separate the new message post from the previous quoted one. It was a light color....maybe green, but I don't recall exactly. Anyway, it offered both a contrast with the total black of the new message field, and with the light gray text. The current lack of contrast between the very dark gray field of the quoted text, and the total black of the new reply, just cannot be seen.

Finally, would it be possible to get an open announcement to the BTB membership about all the closed threads on the site? What now seems to be 30 day limit for reply to a post before it is closed changed the nature of the board significantly. Since the interest and concern of the membership about this was clearly demonstrated with several posts on a thread on the subject in Bra Banter, perhaps website administration would comment openly about this. If Beth is asking for suggestions, I would suggest the previous system of keeping the threads open, which allows long term development of theme threads, as well as some time for infrequent posters to spot and comment on messages in Bra Banter, for example. If some time limit is absolutely required for some reason anyway, 30 days is just WAY too short.]]>

When later contacting the member by a general message post, they are surprised that their PM capability is disabled, and have asked how to turn their PM function on.

Apparently there is a system setting of some sort which can turn a member's PM on or off, and provide a link for it on the profile page when PM is enabled. Could you give instructions on how to turn ON the PM function if it is turned off.

Members should note that if the hypertext "send a private message" does not show up in the Contact Details section of your profile page, then no one can respond to your own private messages to them.
